(OXNARD, Calif) – On February 5, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., investigators with the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit went to Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura to speak with a victim of domestic violence. The victim had injuries and she told investigators that her estranged husband, Joshua Aguilar had beat her and knocked her unconscious in front of their two small children and then sexually assaulted her.
Investigators arrested Joshua Aguilar, 27 from Oxnard on felony sexual assault charges, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse, threatening with intent to terrorize, false imprisonment, and wilful cruelty to a child. He is being held in Ventura County Jail with bail set at $500,000. Aguilar had previously been convicted on a domestic violence charge and served time in prison.
