DETAILS:
On February 21, 2014, at about 6:17 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the 500 block of East Channel Islands Boulevard in reference to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian, Adalberto Romero Deloa, was crossing Channel Islands Boulevard near Circle Drive when he was struck by a light-colored truck that was traveling eastbound on Channel Islands Boulevard. The impact caused pedestrian Deloa to be thrown several feet and land in the roadway. According to witnesses, a second vehicle, described only as a light-colored sedan, also struck pedestrian Deloa while he was lying in the roadway. Both vehicles fled the scene of the collision without rendering aid or notifying emergency personnel.
Pedestrian Deloa was transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for his injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.
