DETAILS:

On 12-3-2010 at approximately 2215 hours, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a Robbery that had just occurred in the area of Fairbourne Lane and Perkins Road. Officers arrived soon after the call and the victim told him that he was robbed by 4 subjects who eventually fled in a dark colored SUV. The victim was able to provide a partial license plate for the suspect vehicle.

Motor Officer Jeremy Nodine observed a vehicle matching that description in the area of Saviers road and Bard road. That vehicle was found to have 5 subjects matching the description of the suspects. During the investigation four of those subjects were positively identified by the victim and the victim’s property was located in the vehicle.

All subjects in the vehicle were arrested for the various charges. The victim’s name is not being released at this time as it is an on-going investigation and the victim’s is in fear of retaliation.

It is believed that these individuals were also involved in several additional robberies that were unreported. On January 1, 2011, at approximately 0254 hours, Officer Jim Crilly of the Oxnard Police Department was monitoring traffic at the intersection of Rose Avenue and Fifth Street when he observed a Grey, Cadillac travelling southbound on the west sidewalk of Rose Avenue north of Fifth Street. He watched the vehicle strike several signposts then collide head-on into a railroad signal standard at an estimated speed of 50 miles per hour. Officer Crilly responded to the collision location and found the driver, Rafael Deleon De La Cruz, 19 years of Oxnard, trapped in his heavily-damaged vehicle. Oxnard Fire Department personnel responded and had to extricate De La Cruz from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. De La Cruz sustained multiple head and leg injuries and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in serious condition.

Investigators are trying to determine why De La Cruz ran off the road and it is unknown whether or not alcohol was a factor in this collision.

DETAILS:

On the above date/time, a trailer hauling construction equipment collided with an electrical power pole, damaging the power pole. Crews are currently on scene repairing the power pole. Wooley Road is closed between Commercial and Richmond. Power to the area is expected to be interrupted at some point during the repair process. It is expected that these repairs will last until the afternoon.

On the above date and time, Oxnard Police Officers were dispatched to a shooting victim in the 700 Block of West Pleasant Valley Road. Upon arrival they found Miguel Gonzales, who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was treated at the scene by emergency personnel and released.

The suspect, who was still at the scene, was later arrested for assault with a firearm. Officers learned that the two victims and the suspect were involved in a fight. During the fight, the suspect pulled out the gun and fired several rounds. One of the rounds fired grazed the victim. The suspect was transported to St. Johns Hospital where he was treated for his injuries that resulted from the altercation and was later transported to county jail.

On 6-10-2009, victim Joseph Jacquez (13 years old at the time of shooting) was walking in the area of Roosevelt Street and First Street when he was gunned down by several gang members. This shooting occurred in retaliation for a Southside gang member and girlfriend that had been assaulted and robbed the night before in the City of Ventura.

Investigators worked several leads that pointed out a vehicle that was used during the shooting. After identifying the persons involved with that vehicle, two additional suspects, identified as Pablo Cruz 2-21-91 and Victor Montejano 8-12-87, were arrested. Investigators continued with leads to identify an additional suspect in the homicide. After hundreds of staff-hours, the Oxnard Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested Juan (Johnny) Prado for his involvement in the homicide.

Mr. Prado was in custody for several unrelated weapons charges when detectives went to the Ventura County Jail and arrested Mr. Prado for the murder of Joseph Jacquez. We have attached a prior booking photo to the press release.

The investigation is continuing.

On June 26, 2011 at approximately 8:02 PM, officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of Hemlock St. and Patterson Rd. When officers arrived they were unable to locate anyone. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that occupants in an unknown type vehicle shot at another occupied vehicle at the intersection.

Officers were able to locate the victims and their vehicle. The victims stated that they were driving home when another vehicle drove next to them. The occupants started flashing gang signs and yelled out a local Oxnard gang. One of the occupants of that vehicle fired several shots at the victims, striking their vehicle several times. The victims fled the scene and went home to report the incident to police. None of the victims were injured during the incident and don’t appear to have any gang ties.

DETAILS:

On 6/14/11, at approximately 1738 hours, officers responded to a call of a stabbing in the 700 block of W. Channel Islands Blvd. When Officers arrived they located the victim, who had sustained a stab wound near his left armpit, causing moderate injuries. The suspect fled the area prior to Officers arriving. During the investigation the suspect was identified as Francisco Javier Raygoza, a 21 year old Oxnard resident.

On 6/29/11 at approximately 1330 hours, members of Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) located and arrested Raygoza for the stabbing.
