DETAILS:

On June 26, 2011 at approximately 8:02 PM, officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of Hemlock St. and Patterson Rd. When officers arrived they were unable to locate anyone. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that occupants in an unknown type vehicle shot at another occupied vehicle at the intersection.

Officers were able to locate the victims and their vehicle. The victims stated that they were driving home when another vehicle drove next to them. The occupants started flashing gang signs and yelled out a local Oxnard gang. One of the occupants of that vehicle fired several shots at the victims, striking their vehicle several times. The victims fled the scene and went home to report the incident to police. None of the victims were injured during the incident and don’t appear to have any gang ties.

DETAILS:

On 6/14/11, at approximately 1738 hours, officers responded to a call of a stabbing in the 700 block of W. Channel Islands Blvd. When Officers arrived they located the victim, who had sustained a stab wound near his left armpit, causing moderate injuries. The suspect fled the area prior to Officers arriving. During the investigation the suspect was identified as Francisco Javier Raygoza, a 21 year old Oxnard resident.

On 6/29/11 at approximately 1330 hours, members of Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) located and arrested Raygoza for the stabbing.

On November 20, 2011 at about noon, the Oxnard Fire Department and EMS personnel responded to a medical call of a woman in a car in the parking lot of McDonald’s at 1741 Pacific Avenue. The caller reported that the woman was not breathing.

Fire department personnel requested Oxnard Police respond to assist. When officers arrived the victim was being transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center. The victim died while at the hospital and the reason for the death was not readily apparent at the time. This case is being investigated by Oxnard PD as a suspicious death.

The victim’s name is Jung Ja Lee, 69. She is a resident of Laguna Woods, CA.

On December 6, 2011, at about 2 a.m. Oxnard PD officers responded to Driffill School, located at 910 South E Street, in regards to a burglary alarm. When the officers arrived, a man was seen running on the campus. A perimeter around the school was quickly established.

As officers searched the school grounds, evidence of a burglary to several classrooms was discovered. In addition, officers located signs indicating that the suspect had ascended to a rooftop. With the assistance of a ladder truck provided by the Oxnard Fire Department, officers searched the roof and located the suspect, 30-year-old Roberto Padilla of Oxnard. He was taken into custody without incident.

Padilla was booked into Ventura County Jail on charges of burglary and an outstanding parole warrant.

Oxnard, CA– Oxnard Fire Department personnel are currently investigating a fire that occurred this afternoon which resulted in the death of one man. The fire happened at 2851 Wagon Wheel Road in an Oxnard mobile home park.

The first call was received at about 1 p.m. today. The caller indicated that someone may be trapped inside the mobile home. When firefighters arrived, they found a single mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters simultaneously extinguished the flames while searching the residence for the individual inside.

Firefighters located the individual and brought him out for the emergency medical services personnel to attend to. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. No information on the identity of this individual is being released at this time.

There were no others injured. The fire was isolated to one mobile home unit. No other units were damaged as a result of this fire.

Oxnard Police officers and the medical examiner are also on scene assisting in the investigation.

(Oxnard, CA) Oxnard Police and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announce the arrest of two men in connection with a rape and kidnapping case that occurred in 2001.

On August 12, 2001 a 17-year-old international exchange student from Japan was walking in the area of Rose Avenue and Lindsay Place when she was grabbed by a male suspect. Two men in a car kidnapped her, took her to an unknown location and sexually assaulted her. As part of the investigation, two DNA profiles were collected from the victim. One DNA sample was matched to Martin Hernandez Padilla 7/22/79 and a warrant was issued for Padilla’s arrest. The other sample did not match anyone in any current law enforcement database thus, the identity of the second suspect was not known.

On February 7, 2012, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies discovered that they had Padilla in custody in their facility; he was arrested because of the warrant. They notified the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Padilla was extradited from the Orange County jail to Ventura County.

Ventura County District Attorney investigators conducted several interviews which led to another possible suspect. They interviewed Oswaldo Hernandez Pinaloza 3/23/82 and had probable cause to arrest Pinaloza in this case. Both Padilla and Pinaloza are currently being held in the Ventura County jail.

The victim in this case returned to Japan in 2001. Investigators are in contact with her in the event she is needed for the prosecution.

Investigators believe there may be other victims of sexual assault or attempted kidnapping by these two suspects who have not yet come forward. If you have information in this case, or believe you were a victim please notify the Oxnard PD family protection unit at (805) 385-7620.

(Oxnard, CA) Today at about 7:40 p.m. Oxnard PD received a call of car that hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Santa Lucia and Rose Avenues. Five Oxnard residents saw the collision from a nearby vehicle. Two of the occupants immediately exited the car and rendered aid to the 10-year-old victim. The pair of rescuers pulled him out of traffic lanes to safety.

While tending to the injured bicyclist, the witnesses watched as the suspect vehicle, a gray Ford F-250 pick-up truck, sped away. The remaining three occupants of the witness vehicle followed the suspect while reporting the description and direction of the truck.

The witnesses’ maintained contact with the dispatcher at Oxnard PD as the suspect driver zigzagged his way through southeast Oxnard along Hueneme Road and Rice Avenue. Oxnard PD officers intercepted the suspect vehicle at Channel Islands Boulevard and DuPont Street. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.

The bicyclist was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with moderate injuries. It was determined that he was crossing the street on his bicycle while the light was green when he was hit.

The suspect is identified as Raul Rivera, 54, of Oxnard. Rivera was booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of felony hit and run, and driving without a license.

Without the assistance of these five witnesses, the victim may have sustained additional injuries from passing traffic at the collision scene and the suspect could have escaped apprehension.

(Oxnard, CA) On Friday, March 30, 2012 beginning at 9 p.m. the intersection of Rose Avenue and Fifth Street will be closed for railroad track maintenance. The shutdown will remain in effect until Tuesday, April 3 at 9 p.m.

Because this intersection is one of the most heavily traveled in all of Oxnard, the Oxnard PD Traffic Unit will manage the shutdown by monitoring the alternate routes closely. If the officers observe major traffic back-up along those routes, they will modify the traffic plan for the closure.

Motorists are strongly urged to avoid Rose Avenue south of Gonzales. It is recommended that motorists use Oxnard Boulevard, Rice and Wooley Roads and Del Norte Boulevard as alternate streets. It is also recommended that motorists allow extra travel time if they need to travel in the areas near Fifth Street and Rose Avenue.

(Oxnard, CA) On April 6, 2012 at about 10 p.m. Oxnard police officers responded to the Walmart store located at 2001 N. Rose Avenue regarding an attempted robbery that had just occurred. The suspect was a Hispanic male, 25-26, wearing a black beanie, black or blue sweatshirt with white print on the left side, a plaid Dickies-style button-up shirt, and gray pants or jeans. He spoke English and Spanish and appeared to be ill – witnesses reported that the suspect coughed repeatedly. He approached a clerk at the customer service desk inside the business and demanded money and mentioned having a weapon, but no weapon was seen.

The suspect was not successful in getting cash from the clerk and fled the area on foot toward Gonzales Road. Officers checked the area for the suspect but were not able to locate him. No one was hurt during the attempted robbery.

(Oxnard, CA) On April 20, 2012 at about 8 a.m., Oxnard PD officers responded to the 4500 block of Reading Drive regarding a shooting and attempted residential burglary. Officers discovered that the victim of the attempted burglary stopped the 15-year-old suspect as he was leaving the area. The victim decided to drive the suspect home and was directed by the suspect to the College Estates neighborhood. While driving through the neighborhood, the victim noticed that he was being followed by two Hispanic males in a blue, full sized pick-up truck. As a result, the victim stopped his vehicle in the 4400 block of Anchorage Street. The driver of the full sized pick-up truck then fired once into the victim’s vehicle, shattering a window; the victim was not injured. All three suspects fled the area in the pick-up truck. Officers checked the area for the suspects and the suspect vehicle but were not able to locate them.
