On 7-25-14, at 1700 hours, detectives from the Oxnard Police Department and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office concluded a six-month long investigation with a traffic stop in the area of Auto Center Drive and Los Olivos Drive. Detectives had authored a search warrant for suspect Francisco Amaya Parra and spotted him in the area driving a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and during the search, detectives located over two pounds of methamphetamine. Parra was arrested for possession for sales and transportation of methamphetamine. He was later transported and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail.
During a search warrant served at Parra’s residence in the 900 Block of Collins Street in El Rio, detectives located an additional pound of methamphetamine as well as a large amount of currency. Detectives learned that two young children resided at the home and where at risk of being exposed to these dangerous drugs. Children and Family Services were called to the scene. Parra’s girlfriend, Zoila Cervantes, was also arrested for conspiracy to distribute dangerous narcotics and child endangerment.
An investigation is continuing.
