DETAILS:
On 6/23/14 at approximately 1400 hours, Oxnard police officers attempted to stop the driver of a truck that was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant. The driver of the truck, 26 year old Gustavo Meza, failed to stop after police activated their emergency lights. Meza led officers on a brief vehicle pursuit through downtown Oxnard. During the pursuit, an item was discarded from the vehicle. Police officers recovered the item, which was found to be a loaded firearm.
Meza finally stopped for police officers and was taken into custody for his outstanding warrant. Meza was also charged with a violation of the gang injunction, failing to stop for officers, and weapons and drug charges.
A passenger in the truck, 23 year old Emeterio Cabrera, fled from the vehicle during the pursuit. Cabrera was caught by officers and arrested. He was charged with a violation of the gang injunction.
