(Oxnard, CA) On Friday, April 27, 2012, officers from the Oxnard Police Traffic Unit conducted DUI saturation patrol between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.
The officers stopped 76 vehicles, conducted 14 DUI investigations, and arrested seven drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol. Officers also issued 34 citations to drivers for various vehicle code violations. Twelve of the drivers who were stopped did not have a valid driver’s license.
The Oxnard PD Traffic Unit will be out once again searching for DUI drivers on Cinco de Mayo weekend, Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5. OPD reminds everyone to use a designated driver if they plan to celebrate over the weekend.
These operations are funded through grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) though the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).
