SUBJECT: Documented Juvenile Gang Members Arrested for Firearm Possession and Vehicle Pursuit

On January 6, 2024, at approximately 7:49 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for reckless driving. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit lasted approximately eight minutes and traveled 7.5 miles in the South Oxnard area.
The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of Maulhardt Road and Ranchita Lane. The driver and two occupants fled on foot from the vehicle and were apprehended by police. One of the occupants, who was identified as a 14 year-old Oxnard resident, was in possession of a .45 caliber handgun concealed on his person and was arrested for weapons charges. The additional two juveniles were arrested for vehicle pursuit and various misdemeanor charges. All three of the juveniles were lodged into the Ventura Juvenile Justice Center.
