INCIDENT: | Despondent/Suicidal Subject Detained for Mental Health Evaluation |

DETAILS:
On 5/31/14 at approximately 2225 hours, Oxnard Police Officers were driving in the 3300 block of Fournier Street when they encountered a lone female holding a large knife to her throat. Officers attempted to talk to the female, however, she became extremely irate and threatened to stab herself.
Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) officers along with Ventura County Mental Health members attempted, for several hours, to convince the subject to surrender the knife. She was non-responsive during the negotiations. Officers using less-lethal devices were eventually able to subdue her without injury.
The subject was transported to Ventura County Mental Health for evaluation.
