The Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a multiple location DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint tomorrow night, August 28, 2015 at undisclosed locations within the city limits between the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment with officers checking drivers for proper licensing delaying motorists only momentarily. Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.
In addition, Avoid the 14 Ventura County is still out in full force during the 18-day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over summer campaign that started on August 21st. During the first five days of the campaign, the Simi Valley Police Department, Oxnard Police Department, Ventura Police Department and Thousand Oaks Police Department have reported the following:
- 23 DUI arrests
- Four individuals arrested for DUI related warrants
- Three alcohol-related injury collisions causing injuries to six people
Funding for the checkpoint and Ventura County Avoid the 14 DUI Task Force operations is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration who reminds everyone; Report Drunk Drivers! – Call 9-1-1.
