DETAILS:
At approximately 4:50 PM on October 6, 2012, the Oxnard Police Department Emergency Communications Center received several calls of a person shooting a gun in Del Sol Park. Officers arrived and quickly apprehended Flores while he was still in possession of a handgun. Officers learned that Flores was involved in a fight with two or three other subjects and had discharged the weapon. No persons were injured due to the discharge of the firearm.
Witnesses told officers they observed three male subjects running from the area where the shots were fired. Officers responded to that area and contacted several individuals. During this contact, an Oxnard Police Service Dog exited its K-9 vehicle and bit an uninvolved bystander. The person was treated for a minor dog bite.
