DETAILS:
At approximately 4:50 PM on October 6, 2012, the Oxnard Police Department Emergency Communications Center received several calls of a person shooting a gun in Del Sol Park. Officers arrived and quickly apprehended Flores while he was still in possession of a handgun. Officers learned that Flores was involved in a fight with two or three other subjects and had discharged the weapon. No persons were injured due to the discharge of the firearm.

Witnesses told officers they observed three male subjects running from the area where the shots were fired. Officers responded to that area and contacted several individuals. During this contact, an Oxnard Police Service Dog exited its K-9 vehicle and bit an uninvolved bystander. The person was treated for a minor dog bite.

DETAILS:
On November 7, 2012, at approximately 1500 hours, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a radio call of a theft in progress at Fry’s Electronics, 1901 Ventura Boulevard. Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect, Juan Acosta, had fled from the loss prevention agents.

During the officers’ investigation, Acosta returned to the parking lot to retrieve his vehicle. An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop, and suspect Acosta fled from the vehicle. The officer went in foot pursuit of suspect Acosta, and at the termination of the foot chase, suspect Acosta punched the officer and knocked the officer’s handheld radio out of his hand when the officer was requesting help.

An electronic control device (ECD) was deployed to take suspect Acosta into custody.

A passenger in the vehicle, Jesse Andrade, fled from the vehicle and barricaded himself in the public restroom inside of Burger King located at 2800 Paseo Mercado. Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) were dispatched to the scene. SEU officers were able to convince Andrade to surrender without incident.

Jesse Andrade was taken into custody for an outstanding felony probation warrant.

Juan Acosta was placed under arrest for commercial burglary, petty theft with priors, battery on a police officer, and interfering with police communication.

Juan Acosta was on the Post Release Offender (PRO) program. The PRO program released nonviolent, nonsexual and nonserious offenders from prison pursuant to Assembly Bill 109.

DETAILS:

On 12-8-12, at 0155 hours, officers were dispatched to Cooper Road at Hayes Avenue re: a carjacking that just occurred. A gray ’07 Dodge Magnum was taken by three HM’s 20 to 30 years. One was in possession of a black handgun. A second suspect was described as having a shaved head. The victim was forced to give the suspects his cash and a cell phone.

Two suspects fled in the Dodge Magnum while the third fled on foot on Grant Avenue.

The victim was not injured. An investigation is continuing.

DETAILS:On December 20, 2012, at about 12:41 p.m., Oxnard PD officers responded to the area of Beaumont Avenue and Langley Street after receiving a call of an injury collision. Upon arrival, officers and EMS personnel found that a gold Ford pick-up truck, driven by Donald G. Dent, had collided into a silver Dodge Caravan that was parked near the intersection.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Ford was traveling northbound on Beaumont Avenue towards Langley Street. The Dodge was parked southbound along the west curb of Beaumont Avenue. For unknown reasons, the Ford veered towards the right and collided into the parked vehicle.

Mr. Dent was transported to St. John’s Hospital where he was subsequently was pronounced dead. It is suspected that Mr. Dent suffered a heart attack just before the collision.

DETAILS:
On 12-20-12, at 2035 hours, a female shopper walked to her car parked in front of Marshall’s located in the 1800 Block of Ventura Boulevard. As she entered her car, a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years, medium build and dark complexion grabbed her holding a knife to her. The male entered the vehicle with the victim and climbed over her and into the back seat. There he held a knife to her throat.

The female victim began honking her horn in an effort to gain the attention of persons in the parking lot. The suspect let go of the victim and fled on foot.

Oxnard police officers responded to the area and with the assistance of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and its crew, conducted a search of the area. The suspect was not located.

The victim was not harmed.

On 03/11/13. at approximately 1547 hours, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the 1900 Block of San Gorgonio Avenue reference a shooting victim. When officers arrived, they located a 20-year old victim suffering from three gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to VCMC and was listed in serious but stable condition. No witnesses or suspects were located.

Jorge Cervantes

(OXNARD, Calif)– On April 2, 2013, at approximately 12:30 p.m., 19 year old Oxnard resident Jorge Cervantes was arrested for his role in the gang-motivated murder of Alfredo Vargas. Cervantes was arrested in the area of Pleasant Valley Road and Perkins Road in Oxnard after officers observed him as a passenger in a vehicle. Cervantes was transported to the Ventura County Jail where he will be awaiting court proceedings along with the other two suspects that were arrested last week.

There are additional outstanding suspects in the Alfredo Vargas homicide and other investigations are being actively worked. These investigations include the 2006 murder of Oscar Gonzales, the 2009 murder of Ramiro Huerta, and the 2012 murder of Jose Gonzales. Investigators believe members of the Lemonwood Chiques criminal street gang are responsible for all of these murders.

DETAILS:
On 5/3/13 at approximately 1700 hours, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and Alexander Street regarding a fight with rocks and bottles. At the same time, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Sutter Place reference a stabbing victim. Both incidents are believed to be related.

Police believe the victim was confronted by approximately four Hispanic males at the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and Alexander Street. Words were exchanged and the victim was stabbed multiple times. The victim was able to flee the area and arrived in the 2000 block of Sutter Drive. Residents on Sutter Place noticed the victim and called the police.

The investigation is continuing.

(OXNARD, CALIF) On May 8^th 2013, at about 7:30 a.m., members of the Oxnard Police Department’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Kiawah River Drive in the City of Oxnard. The search warrant was part of a month long investigation regarding marijuana sales.

During the search of the residence, detectives located over 15 pounds of marijuana and other evidence indicating that sales of marijuana were being conducted from this residence. They also learned that the home where the sales were being conducted was within 1000 feet of a nearby elementary school.

Two of the residents, Robert Mckee and Cameron Fletcher, were arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail for sales of marijuana as well as conducting this type of illegal activity within 1000 feet of an elementary school.

This case would not have been possible if not for the several anonymous tips we received during the investigation. 1 (2) On Sunday, June 3, 2013, at about 6:00 p.m. Oxnard police officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Colonia Road reference a sexual assault of a child.

When the officers got to the house, they spoke with the victim who identified Antonio Aldaco as the person that sexually assaulted her. Aldaco had fled the house before police arrived. Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.
