DETAILS: On 02/23/14 at approximately 2134 hours, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Juniper Street regarding a shooting victim. When officers arrived they located a male subject that was shot. The male subject was transported to VCMC where he was listed in critical condition.
On 02/25/14, the victim died as a result of his injuries. He has been identified as Austin Martin, a 23 year old Oxnard resident. Investigators are following up on leads in hopes of identifying the suspect.
On 12/20/13, the Oxnard Police Department had responded to a shooting in the 600 block of West Juniper. The investigation into that incident revealed that Austin Martin had shot and killed a subject he knew. The victim was identified as 29 year old Oxnard resident Jackie Williams. The incident was still under investigation and there were indications that Williams was shot in self-defense. Martin had not been charged in the case.
