On 7-11-13, at 4:25 P.M., Oxnard police officers attempted to stop a motorist for a traffic violation in the area of Hobson Way and 9th Street. The vehicle sped away. A brief pursuit
ensued which covered less than one mile. When speeds reached 60 MPH on surface streets the pursuit was cancelled by officers in the interest of public safety.
The vehicle continued speeding S/B on “J” Street thru Wooley Road running a red light. The driver was seen by witnesses discarding illegal drugs out the vehicle window.
When the vehicle attempted to turn at “J” Street onto Guava Street it hit a curb and rolled over. Officers arrived on scene and arrested Post-Release Offender (PRO) Joseph Fry Senior, a 37-year old Oxnard resident. Fry suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. No other persons were injured.
Fry was wanted for a misdemeanor warrant. Fry is also being held on a violation related to the “Post-release Offender Program” (PRO) which releases non-violent, and non-serious offenders from prison pursuant to Assembly Bill 109.
