DETAILS:
On June 3, 2011, at approximately 2028 hours, officers and EMS personnel responded to the 100 block of North “C” Street after receiving a call of a vehicle collision involving a mini-van and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers found that a 53 year old male of Oxnard had been struck by a mini-van driven by Richard Ray, 69 years old of Oxnard. The pedestrian sustained serious head injuries and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing the street mid-block, outside of a marked crosswalk, and stepped into the path of the mini-van which was traveling northbound “C” Street at a normal speed.
Alcohol was not a factor on the part of the mini-van driver. It is unknown, at this time, if the pedestrian had alcohol on-board and whether or not it was factor in this collision.
If anyone has information about this collision please contact Officer Jason Coleman at 805-385-7600.
An investigation is continuing.
