On July 24, 2016, at about 8:22 p.m., officers responded to a hit and run collision in the area of Seaglass Way and Danvers River Street. Additional officers located the suspect vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Christina Sotelo, in the 2500 Block of Detroit Avenue. Witnesses were able to help officers identify Sotelo’s vehicle and place Sotelo behind the wheel at the time of the collision.
During the investigation, Sotelo was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. Sotelo also had her 5-year-old son with her at the time of the collision. He was not injured. Sotelo was booked into the Ventura County main jail on suspicion of felony hit and run, driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment.
The female victim in the collision sustained a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
