DETAILS: On April 30, 2016 at approximately 4:00 P.M, a patrol officer attempted to make an enforcement stop on a bicyclist in the 500 block of Howell Road when the bicyclist fled from the officer. After a short pursuit the subject was later detained and identified as Hosea Faagogo. Faagogo had a home-made sawed-off shotgun concealed on his person, which he stated he intended to sell. Faagogo was arrested for multiple firearms charges and fleeing from an officer.
Faagogo is associated with a known criminal street gang.
At the beginning of 2014, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative, as well as the Firearms Strike Team (FAST), to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons in the city. The objective of the initiative and FAST is to reduce gun violence in Oxnard through education, intervention and enforcement.
