DETAILS:
On 10/13/2017 at 6:15 am an alert resident saw a suspicious vehicle on N Street near Ventura Road. The vehicle was driving slowly and intermittently stopping next to parked vehicles. An occupant appeared to get out and check the parked vehicles.
Officers responded to the area and located a black Lexus with Florida license plates. As soon as officers were visible, the vehicle sped away quickly, northbound on N Street. After a short distance, the vehicle collided with an unoccupied parked car at the intersection with Doris Street. The suspect vehicle became disabled in the intersection and was abandoned. Officers gave chase on foot and took Michael Gomez into custody in the 400 block of North N Street.
The suspect vehicle was determined to be an unreported stolen vehicle from Oxnard and inside were burglary tools as well as suspected stolen property.
Gomez was booked at Ventura County Jail for the stolen vehicle, fleeing the scene of an accident, and resisting a peace officer.
