(OXNARD, Calif) – On October 18, 2017, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Oxnard police officers were called to the scene of an armed robbery in progress. A witness reported that two armed men used a weapon to rob the victim of his black colored “beach cruiser” style bicycle. This robbery occurred near the Del Taco drive-thru, located at 2000 North Rose Avenue, Oxnard.
The first officer to arrive at the scene detained one suspect. The second suspect fled the area. During the action, the victim in this case left the scene prior to being contacted by officers.
Officers at the scene recovered the victim’s bicycle. The detained suspect was positively identified by the witness as being a participant in the robbery. This suspect was arrested for robbery, but the charges were later dropped pending the identification of the victim.
Investigators believe that while fleeing the area, the second suspect may have been struck by a moving vehicle. The second suspect fled again after the traffic collision.
The victim is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 34 years of age, approximately 6’2” tall, and approximately 140 pounds. That night the victim was wearing a blue colored sweatshirt, and a black colored baseball cap, with a red rim around the lid. It is imperative that investigators locate and interview the victim in this case.
