DETAILS:

On April 25, 2018 at about 3:45AM, officers from the Oxnard Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a vehicle code violation in the area of Azalea and Lantana Streets in the City of Oxnard. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit followed. The vehicle fled through neighborhood streets and ended when the vehicle collided with several parked unoccupied vehicles in the 1000 Block of Quail Run Way. The occupants fled the vehicle and a search followed.

Two of the occupants were arrested a short time later: Ramuco was arrested for evading from police officers (felony), fleeing the scene of a vehicle collision (misdemeanor), and a Post Release Offender violation (felony); Manriquez was arrested for two misdemeanor and one felony warrant, and resisting the duties of a police officer (misdemeanor).

At about 7:30AM, residents from the 2400 Block of Kentia Street called stating a subject was knocking on their doors, saying he was being chased and that he needed medical attention. Officers arrived and contacted Mesa, who was believed to have also been in the pursued vehicle. Mesa received medical attention at the scene, and was arrested for possession of a dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia (both misdemeanors).

(OXNARD, Calif) – The Oxnard Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance and is asking for witnesses in a homicide investigation to contact Major Crimes Detectives.

On April 22, 2018, at approximately 8:00 p.m., 22-year old Port Hueneme resident Jose Luis Lopez was shot and killed in the 2900 block of Ocean Drive. Lopez was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives believe the murder was gang-motivated.

During the investigation, Major Crimes Detectives received information that the occupants of a silver 4-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Corolla, were in the area where the shooting occurred and left prior to the arrival of police officers. Detectives believe that the occupants of the silver 4-door sedan (see picture below) have important information that could assist with the investigation.

Detectives would like to speak to the occupants of the vehicle that is circled in red. DETAILS: On April 22, 2018, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Oxnard police officers responded to a call for service of a shooting victim in the 2900 block of Ocean Drive. Police officers arrived on scene and located a shooting victim. The victim, a 22-year old male, was found lying on the street near a parking stall. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assume the investigation. At this early stage in the investigation, detectives do not have any suspect information nor do they have a motive for the murder.

The City of Oxnard offers a $10,000.00 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of suspect(s) in homicide cases. Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Jaime Miranda at (805) 385-7680

On April 22, 2018, at approximately 3:05 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to a traffic collision in the 300 block of Riverpark Boulevard in Oxnard. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a single vehicle had collided with a tree, partially ejecting the driver. The driver, identified as a 28-year-old male of Los Angeles, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 25-year-old female passenger of Los Angeles was transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for minor injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, traffic investigators determined the Ford Focus was traveling southbound on Riverpark Boulevard and then veered onto the sidewalk colliding into a tree. It is believed that speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the collision. The collision is still under investigation.

Two teen girls were seriously injured after they were thrown from the trunk of a car after a crash.

The two girls were in the trunk of a silver Dodge Charger driven by a 17-year-old boy when the Charger that was travelling westbound on Costa De Oro was hit broadside by a Nissan Sentra going southbound on Harbor Boulevard and spun out, about 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

The girls were riding in the trunk because the driver had two other passengers and a large subwoofer in the car.

The two girls and a third passenger were taken to hospitals with severe injuries. The other passenger and the driver suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Sentra was not injured.

The investigation is continuing and we are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to contact the traffic investigator at (805) 385-7749.

On April 22, 2018, officers stopped a vehicle shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Channel View Park at 4460 S. Harbor Boulevard after residents complained of the subjects being loud and disturbing.

A 16-year-old passenger, who was identified as a gang member had a loaded pistol. The teen was arrested on suspicion of possessing a concealed loaded firearm in a car. The driver and another passenger were arrested on probation violations.

On April 20^th, 2018 at about 9:45 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to a missing juvenile in the 1600 block of Woodland Street in Oxnard. The mother became concerned when her son left the residence.

The missing juvenile is Andes Fajardo, 11-year-old, Hispanic male, 4’9”, 85 lbs., black hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing a black shirt with red stripes, grey shorts with red stripes and blue sandals (see attached photo).

The Oxnard Police Department does not suspect any foul play. We are urging the public to immediately contact the Oxnard Police Department if they see him or have any information as to his whereabouts.

An Oxnard attempted murder suspect was taken into custody Friday evening in Ventura.

Benjamin Taitai, 45, was captured at about 8:00 p.m. at a house in the 500 block of Rancho Road in Ventura. The Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, K9 Unit, Special Enforcement Unit, Ventura Police SWAT team and FBI agents carried out the arrest.

Taitai was sought in connection with a shooting incident on April 6, in the 300 block of Napa Street where a man was shot in the head at close range. An investigation determined that Taitai was the suspect in the shooting.

What motivated the shooting was not clear.

Taitai was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder. His bail was set at $1 million.

On 4/16/18 at 2:45 A.M. Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the report of a carjacking and robbery that occurred in the 1400 Block of South Oxnard Boulevard. On arrival officers located a 27 year old male victim who said he was approached by two suspects who demanded his property. The victim said one suspect was armed with a gun and the second was armed with a knife. The victim was battered by the suspects and sustained minor injuries. The victim said the suspects stole several items from him and fled in his vehicle.

On 4/16/18 shortly after 5:00 A.M. officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) located the vehicle in Van Nuys. LAPD was involved in a pursuit of the vehicle that culminated with the vehicle crashing into a parked car. The occupants fled from the vehicle and were later captured. Several items belonging to the victim were located and the investigation is ongoing.
