DETAILS:
On November 2, 2018, at approximately 6:41 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the Vagabond Inn, located at 1245 N. Oxnard Boulevard, for a disturbance call. During the investigation, officers located two reported stolen vehicles parked in the parking lot. The first vehicle, a red 2008 Ford Fusion was stolen out of the City of Ventura and the second vehicle, a white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, was stolen out of the City of Oxnard.
At the scene, officers detained suspect Christopher Fowler who was determined to have been driving the Chevrolet truck earlier in the day. Further investigation revealed he was staying in one of the rooms at the motel and associating with other individuals who were also contacted and arrested by officers. The following arrests were made:
- Richard Tamayo – felony arrest warrant for armed robbery
- Samantha Perkins – providing false identifying information to a police officer (misdemeanor)
- Kristy Braxton – possession of narcotics (misdemeanor)
- Marlene Tran – under the influence of a controlled substance (misdemeanor)
- Steven Kindred – misdemeanor arrest warrant out of Los Angeles County
Suspect Fowler was booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of unlawful taking/driving a motor vehicle, a felony. Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force (OATTF) will be conducting further investigation into the stolen Ford Fusion.
