On March 19, 2019, at 11:06 p.m., a woman reported a domestic dispute with shots fired into the air.

The 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers the man involved in the altercation was her ex-boyfriend, Christian Robledo, 26-years-old from Oxnard. She said he rammed her car and had driven off in a white Toyota Camry.

Offices caught up with the suspect on Rose Avenue and Ives Avenue and tried to pull him over. The man refused to yield, instead continuing on Rose Avenue to eastbound Wooley Road.

The suspect proceeded to lead the pursuing officers onto Rice Avenue before crashing into a parked car on Santa Clara Avenue and Eucalyptus Drive. The fleeing man and his passenger, got out of the car and bolted. Offices chased after them. The passenger was taken into custody without incident and arrested on misdemeanor obstruction charges. Robledo fought with officers who used the Taser to take him into custody.

Robledo was charged with evading officers, hit and run, driving under the influence of alcohol and drug and weapon offenses.

On March 18th, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) conducted a search warrant at the residence of Louie Almanza, 1425 south “E” Street. During the service of the warrant another subject, Adalberto Duran was detained at the residence. During the search of the residence, three unregistered rifles, an unregistered shotgun and a stolen semi-auto handgun were located. In addition to the firearms, heroin packaged for sale and additional ammunition of varying calibers was located.

Almanza was found in possession of one of the rifles, and Duran was found in possession of two rifles, the shotgun, the stolen handgun, ammunition and narcotics. Both Almanza and Duran are documented tagging crew members in the City of Oxnard, and Duran is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to prior felony convictions. Almanza was arrested for numerous firearms violations, and Duran was arrested for numerous firearms and narcotics violations.

The Oxnard Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang crimes and gun violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city.

The incident was called in at 5:29 p.m. near Little Caesars Pizza in the 1400 block of Doris Avenue, just east of the intersection with Ventura Road.

The homeless victim was apparently stabbed behind Little Caesars Pizza following an argument with another vagrant.

The wounds did not appear to be life-threatening. The victim was taken to Ventura County Medical Center.

The suspect was described as a White male, in his 50s, with short white hair, a white beard, wearing a black leather jacket and dark pants.

On March 18, 2019, at about 4:21 AM, Oxnard officers responded to a shooting victim at the intersection of Gibralter Street and Camino Del Sol. Upon arrival officers located an adult male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital by a private party and he is listed in stable condition. There is no suspect description available and the investigation is ongoing.

On March 15, 2019 at about 9:40PM, Officers made contact with Garcia in the area of Bonita Avenue and Second Street in Oxnard. During the contact, the officers learned that Garcia was in possession of narcotics. After an investigation, officers placed Vasquez under arrest for possession of narcotics for sale. During a search of the immediate area, officers located a loaded handgun that Vasquez attempted to discard during the contact.

Vasquez was arrested for possession of narcotics for sale, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a controlled substance while possessing a firearm, all felonies.

DETAILS: On February 2, 2019 at approximately 2317 hours, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the Jack in the Box restaurant located at 960 N. Ventura Road. According to witnesses, a suspect armed with a knife entered the business and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.

Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department Violent Crimes Unit investigated the case. During the course of the investigation, investigators were contacted by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office regarding a burglary that occurred at another Jack in the Box restaurant in the City of Camarillo. Believing the cases were possibly related, investigators from both agencies worked together to identify a suspect.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Raul Botello, a 19 year old City of Oxnard resident. On March 15, 2019, at approximately 1200 hours, Botello was arrested and charged for the robbery that occurred on February 2, 2019. At the time of his arrest, Botello was already in custody for the burglary that occurred in the City of Camarillo. The robbery investigation is still ongoing.

Please Celebrate Responsibly: Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by millions across the country, often culminating in parties where drinking is involved. Sadly, this leads to tragedies on our roadways because of drivers who choose to leave parties impaired.

This St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, the Oxnard Police Department will have additional officers on patrol ready to stop and arrest drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Additional officers will be deployed on Friday, March 15, from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. and again on Sunday, March 17, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on DUI saturation patrols. In addition, the Oxnard Police Department will deploy additional officers on Sunday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to conduct citywide Motorcycle Safety Enforcement.

According to data from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one person was killed and 48 others were injured in DUI crashes on St. Patrick’s Day last year. In 2017, 59 people were killed nationwide in drunk-driving crashes over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday (March 16-March 18), accounting for 37 percent of all traffic deaths.

Due to St. Patrick’s Day becoming a dangerous holiday on our roads, the Oxnard Police Department encourages everyone to plan ahead and use a designated sober driver, ride-share or public transportation. Even one drink can be one too many.

The Oxnard Police Department also wants to remind everyone that a “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.” Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana can all be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs.

Funding for St. Patrick’s Day weekend DUI enforcement is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This last week was a productive week in the Oxnard Police Department’s campaign to lower vehicle theft stats and take those responsible for it into custody.

On March 8, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a member of the Oxnard Police Department observed a stolen 2004 BMW sedan in the 1900 block of El Cajon Circle. The BMW had been reported stolen earlier in the day. The driver, James Andrew Juarez, a 33 year old Oxnard resident, was contacted and arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and an outstanding felony warrant.

On March 9, 2019, at approximately 5:00 p.m., residents living in the 5200 block of Jefferson Square reported to the Oxnard Police Department that a suspicious occupied vehicle was parked to the rear of their residence. Once officers arrived, they were advised by dispatch that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the city of Tracy, California. The occupants of the vehicle were contacted by officers and after the subsequent investigation; a 15 year old resident of Tracy was arrested for possessing a stolen vehicle.

On March 13, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m., detectives from the Oxnard Police Department and the Ventura County Auto Theft Taskforce (VenCATT) conducted a probation search of a residence located on the 1400 block of Huntswood Way in Oxnard. The probation search was focused on 25 year old, Jaime Juanes who has a prior criminal record for auto theft and who is currently on probation for drug related offenses. During the search, multiple dismantled stolen vehicles were located on the property. These recovered vehicles included stolen vehicles from the cities of Camarillo and Bakersfield. The investigation is still ongoing.

The Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force (VenCATT) is comprised of members from the California Highway Patrol, Oxnard Police Department, Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, DMV Investigations and the Ventura Police Department.

Lock your vehicle and take out your valuables when leaving it. An unlocked car is an invitation to a thief.
Close all windows – thieves can open vehicles through the smallest of openings.
To take your car keys with you. Do not leave them in your car, or leave your car running.

On March 13, 2019, an Oxnard police officer stopped a silver sedan occupied by three subjects for a traffic violation. One of the men was on probation for robbery.

Officers detained the three subjects and recovered a loaded handgun, a rifle, a box of ammunition, a ski mask and gloves.

Based on the findings of the investigation, offices arrested Washington and Evans for felony gun violations. Geyer was arrested on a marijuana offense.

On 03/07/19 at approximately 0220 hours, while a family was sleeping inside of their home located in the 300 block of Hill Street, an intruder entered their home through an open window.

While inside the residence the suspect identified as Ricardo Palazuelos, 23 years old began to rummage through the family’s personal belongings. Family members were awakened by the suspect and immediately detained him. The Oxnard Police Department was notified and he was taken into custody.

During the police investigation, property was found in possession of Palazuelos that did not belong to him or the family. It is believed that Palazuelos might have unlawfully obtained the property from another residence.

The suspect was charged with residential burglary, child endangerment, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
