DETAILS:
On October 28, 2019, at about 2:30 A.M., Oxnard Police Department patrol officers responded to a shooting victim in the 400 block of La Canada Avenue. When the officers arrived, they found a Hispanic male adult suffering from one gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and transported the victim to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he was taken into surgery. The victim died at the hospital from complications from his injuries.
The Oxnard Police Department Homicide Unit responded to investigate the shooting. Investigators are currently in the preliminary stages of the investigation. Investigators learned that a homeowner shot a subject who was burglarizing his home. The homeowner is currently cooperative with investigators.

The City of Oxnard offers a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for committing homicides within the City.
