SUBJECT: Gang Member / Prohibited Person Arrested for Firearms/ Narcotics Possession

On April 24, at 10:30 p.m., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) observed Victor Aguirre in public at the 400 block of west Kamala Street in possession of a semi-auto handgun with an extended magazine. When Officers attempted to contact Aguirre, he fled into his residence a short distance away. Aguirre was detained at the residence and was found in possession of numerous pills of Xanax. A search for the firearm was conducted at Aguirre’s residence. Aguirre is a Post Release Offender (under AB-109) for previous firearm related convictions, is a prohibited person from possessing a firearm and has been arrested eight times in the last twelve months for various charges. Aguirre is also a known criminal street gang member within the City of Oxnard.
Officers from the Special Enforcement Unit, Violent Crimes Unit, Patrol and K-9 Unit assisted in the search at Aguirre’s residence for the firearm. Officers located a loaded Glock 19 9mm semi-auto handgun with a high capacity 31 round magazine. The handgun was also found not to be registered to Aguirre.
