On April 26, 2020, at approximately 4:29 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to a traffic collision that occurred on Statham Boulevard in the 2400 block. Officers determined that a 2017 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Statham Boulevard and collided with a bicyclist who was traveling an unknown direction on Statham Boulevard.
The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as a 43-year-old male of Oxnard was uninjured and cooperated with the investigating officers. The bicyclist was provided first aid and life-saving measures at the scene of the collision by EMS personnel but succumbed to his injuries.
Traffic investigators have taken over the investigation and are attempting to determine the cause of the collision. It is unknown whether speed or alcohol/drugs were involved.
