On September 24, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) contacted several subjects in the 1500 block of Crawford Street. Officers contacted Uriel Barrera (25yrs), Antonio Magallanes (27yrs), Oswaldo Avalos (18yrs), Andy Sanchez (18yrs) and a fifteen-year-old Oxnard resident. All five subjects are known criminal street gang members within the City of Oxnard. Barrera and Magallanes are currently on Parole in the state of California, Avalos and Sanchez are on probation for firearms and weapons, and all four subjects are prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammunition.
During a parole/ probation search of a residence at the 1500 block of Crawford Street, officers located three loaded firearms and ammunition. The firearms were a 9mm Beretta semi-auto handgun, a Glock 40 caliber semi-auto handgun and a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-auto handgun. Two of the firearms were found to be unregistered and the third was found not to be registered to any of the subjects.
Sanchez, Avalos and the fifteen-year old were arrested for numerous firearms related offences. Barrera and Magallanes were arrested for violations of their parole terms.
