On May 10, 2021 at approximately 7:40 PM, officers responded to a carjacking that occurred in the 1000 block of South A Street. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated he was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with two suspects. One of the suspects produced a knife and yelled a gang slogan, while showing the victim his gang tattoos. The victim told officers the suspect tried stabbing him several times, before stealing the victim’s vehicle.
About 30 minutes later, an Oxnard Police officer observed the carjacked vehicle westbound on Pleasant Valley Road near Refsing Place. An enforcement stop was conducted and two occupants were detained. The driver was identified as 35-year-old Oxnard resident James Valdivia. The passenger was identified as 25-year-old Oxnard resident Daniel Rodriguez. Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department Special Operations Division responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. As the investigation progressed, it was determined that both of the suspects in the vehicle were the two suspects who carjacked the victim in the 1000 block of South A Street. The suspects were arrested for carjacking as well as street terrorism.
