On March 24, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Kamala and E St. The officers contacted the occupants and identified three of the passengers as documented Oxnard criminal street gang members. Officers learned that Cerda and Carrillo had warrants for their arrest. They also learned that Aguirre was on CDC parole for possessing firearms.
During the search of the vehicle, officers located a .40 caliber Glock that had been modified to fire in full-auto. Two loaded, high capacity 29 round magazines were also located with the firearm. Officers ultimately arrested Aguirre for being a felon in possession of a dangerous assault weapon, as well as other firearms related charges. Cerda and Carrillo were arrested for their warrants. Aguirre has six prior felony gun convictions.
