On October 22, 2022, at about 10:15 P.M., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the call of a shooting victim in the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar Drive. When officers arrived, they located a 36-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services quickly arrived and began life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The man has been identified as Ronald Charles Apodaca Jr., a 36-year-old Oxnard Resident.
The Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. This is the seventh homicide in the City of Oxnard this year.
This is an ongoing investigation. Detectives encourage anyone who has any information or may have heard or seen anything to contact Detective Meagan Tobey (805) 385-7755. The City of Oxnard offers a reward of $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any individuals responsible for committing homicides within the City.
