SUBJECT: Fatal Traffic Collision Involving a Vehicle and Motorcycle
LOCATION: Oxnard Boulevard, north of Wooley Road, Oxnard

On October 29, 2022, at approximately 10:12 PM, officers from the Oxnard Police Department and E.M.S. personnel responded to a call for service for an injury traffic collision in the southbound lanes of Oxnard Boulevard, north of Wooley Road.
The initial investigation determined that a 2004 Honda motorcycle, driven by 49-year-old Richard Rojas, was traveling southbound on Oxnard Boulevard towards Wooley Road. For unknown reasons, Rojas rear-ended a sedan stopped for traffic in the southbound lanes of Oxnard Boulevard.
Rojas was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center with severe injuries and later succumbed to those injuries on November 1, 2022. The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Investigators are still determining the cause of the collision and whether speed or impairment were a factor.
