DETAILS:
On November 3, 2011, at 1:30 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department received a call from St. John’s Regional Medical Center concerning a stabbing victim who arrived at the Emergency Room. Officers responded and contacted the victim who said she was assaulted in the 1100 block of South I Street. Assisting officers located a crime scene in the middle of I Street.

Officers have no additional leads at this time. The stab wounds to the victim were non-life threatening. The victim’s name is being withheld until investigators have contacted all possible witnesses.

DETAILS: On October 25, 2015 at approximately 7:30 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the vicinity of Oxnard Blvd and Statham Blvd. A search of the vehicle produced a loaded handgun in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

The vehicle’s owner, Arthur Jenkins, was found to be responsible for the firearm. A records check revealed that Jenkins was a convicted violent felon. Jenkins was booked at the Oxnard Police Department for several weapons charges.

Residents are reminded to report suspicious activity to your local law enforcement.

DETAILS:

On December 2, 2011 at about 6:30 p.m., Oxnard Police officers were dispatched to the area of Hemlock Street and Patterson Road in regards to a stabbing victim.

Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old Oxnard resident with multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The suspects are currently outstanding.

DETAILS: On May 28, 2015 at 07:15 a.m., detectives from the Oxnard Police Department served a search warrant in the 1800 block of Pericles Place in the city of Oxnard. Detectives had been investigating suspects Guillermo Martin and his wife, Araceli Martin regarding an identity theft case.

Guillermo Martin’s wife, Araceli, used her position as a human resources director at a local business to facilitate Guillermo’s employment and conceal his true identity. During the investigation, detectives learned that Guillermo Martin is a registered sex offender. Guillermo Martin continued to use the stolen identity and Araceli covered this information for approximately six months. Due to his employment status, Guillermo used a business account to purchase $1846 in goods for his personal use. Both Guillermo and Araceli were arrested. An investigation is on-going in regards to the fraudulent activity.

During the search warrant, Oxnard Police Detectives also located several other items indicating the use of other identities by Guillermo. DETAILS:

On 7-4-14, at approximately 2100 hours, officers responded to the area of the 900 Block of Cooper Road reference subjects using illegal fireworks. Officers contacted Genaro Cortes as he was lighting illegal fireworks. Cortez attempted to leave, interferred with the investigation, and was found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun which was not registered to him. Cortes was arrested for several weapon violations and delaying a peace officer.

In an effort to address the increase in firearms-related crimes, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger Initiative, as well as the Firearms Strike Team (FAST) led by the Violent Crimes Unit, to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons in the City. The objective of the initiative and FAST is to reduce gun-related violence in Oxnard through education, intervention, and enforcement.

(Oxnard, CA) In anticipationof the July 4, 2012 holiday,Oxnard police officers will enforce the ban on fireworks in Oxnard. Anyone possessing, storing, selling, using, transporting or handling any type of fireworks in the city of Oxnard is subject to criminal arrest or may be issued a civil citation with a fine of up to $1,000.

This year Oxnard PD has two ways to report fireworks in advance of the holiday. You may call the fireworks hotline at (805) 982-7141 or send an email to [email protected].
Please include the exact address where the fireworks are being used. If you have the name of the resident who is using fireworks, you may provide that information as well. It is not necessary for you to leave your name and phone number if you do not wish to do so.

In response to your tip, Oxnard PD will issue warnings to residents by mail, in person or by phone in an effort to prevent illegal fireworks activity in the days leading up to and including the Independence Day holiday.

Keep in mind that it is also against the law to discharge firearms in the city limits. Each year all over the United States, people are injured because of those who choose to celebrate July 4 by firing rounds into the air.
On July 4, residents are encouraged to report fireworks or gunshots by calling the Oxnard PD Communications Center at (805) 385-7740. Please be prepared to tell the dispatcher as much information about the fireworks activity as possible including the location or the general area where the fireworks are coming from.

DUI SATURATION PATROL
In addition, there will be a team of officers conducting a saturation patrol around the city of Oxnard on July 4. Motorists are reminded to use designated drivers or taxis instead of driving after consuming alcohol. The funding for this saturation patrol is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The above described suspect entered the establishment while it was open for business. The suspect displayed a handgun, threatened the employees, removed a hammer and began breaking several glass display cases containing jewelry. The suspect removed various jewelry items, placed them in a backpack and in his pockets, then fled on foot southbound towards Gonzales Rd. There were no injuries related to this incident.

On Sunday, August 30, 2015, at about 9:55 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Dollie Street and Petit Drive in reference to an injury collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. When they arrived, a 17 year-old male was found unconscious in the roadway with serious injuries. Officers learned that the vehicle fled the scene following the collision.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect vehicle was traveling eastbound on Dollie Street approaching Petit Drive when it struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the roadway. Surveillance video was obtained during the investigation and captured the suspect vehicle prior to the collision. According to the footage, the vehicle is a light colored, four-door sedan with dark wheels, a sun roof and its rear three windows tinted.

The pedestrian, a 17 year old Oxnard resident, suffered significant head trauma and was transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is currently listed in grave condition.

DETAILS:
On 12/23/10 at approximately 11:30 am, police officers responded to calls of a male disturbing at the Oxnard State Beach Park. The subject was identified as 45 year-old Regan Patno of Ventura. Patno was disrobing and exposing himself to several parents and their small children at the park playground.

When the first officer arrived, Patno ran into the crowd of children and parents and grabbed onto one of the children in a possible attempt to use the child as a shield or to protect him from being arrested. As the officer aggressed on the suspect to take action, he was immediately assisted by the father of the child and several other community members who came to the aid of the child. The child was forcibly separated from Patno but officers continued to struggle with the suspect who was resisting the officers’ efforts to take control of him. The officers were able to take control of the suspect and place him in a body wrap device to prevent him from injuring himself. The suspect suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center prior to being transported to the Ventura County Main Jail.

At the time of the incident, there were approximately 20 adults and children who were present and witnessed the event. Patno was charged with several misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and a felony count of false imprisonment of a person for purposes of protection from arrest or use as a shield.
