DETAILS: On 3/20/14 at approximately 1053 hours, Oxnard police officers responded to a robbery that just occurred to the Bank of the West, located at 371 West Esplanade Drive. While officers were responding to the scene, information was obtained from witnesses that the suspect had fled the business with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no weapons used and nobody was injured during the commission of the crime.
Officers and detectives quickly arrived on scene and searched the area for the robbery suspect. Several witnesses provided valuable information to assist officers and detectives with the investigation. Investigators were able to obtain photographic and video evidence from the bank and surrounding businesses. A suspect was then identified and that information was broadcasted to patrol officers searching the area.
A patrol officer searching the 100 block of Esplanade Drive located a person that matched the physical description of the robbery suspect. That person was later identified as 44 year old transient Donald Orin Fulton. Based on video and photographic evidence, as well as eye witness identification, Fulton was arrested for bank robbery. Fulton was also in possession of evidence directly linking him to the robbery.
