DETAILS: On December 7, 2012 at about 12:36 PM officials were notified via an on-line posting that there was a possible weapon on campus at Hueneme High School. As a precaution, the school was locked down with school employees and officers from the Oxnard Police Department. During the investigation, students were interviewed, and it was learned that the witness, a student, did not actually observe a weapon. At 3:15 PM officials began an orderly dismissal of the student body, which ended at 3:50 PM. No one was injured as a result of this incident.
School officials, district administrators and the police department are working together to assure a safe school day when school reconvenes on Monday, December 10.
