DETAILS:
On September 20, 2015, officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit attempted to stop a 1987 Dodge Lancer in the area of ‘G’ St. and Seventh St. for a traffic violation. The driver, Ramon Alcazar, refused to stop for the officers and led officers on a pursuit throughout the city. During the pursuit, Alcazar ran several stop signs and reached speeds in excess of 50mph in a residential area. During the pursuit, Alcazar stopped the vehicle he was driving unexpectedly and put his car into reverse intentionally ramming the officers’ vehicles. Fortunately neither the suspect nor the officers involved in the pursuit were injured. Alcazar continued fleeing and at one point turned the lights of his vehicle off. The officers briefly lost sight of the vehicle but located it in an alley in the 2000 block of South ‘K’ St. Alcazar fled from the vehicle and ran through several backyards. Alcazar was eventually located hiding in a garage in a nearby residence and was taken into custody for several violations.
