DETAILS:
On September 5, 2015 at approximately 1900 hours, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit were conducting gang enforcement in the downtown area of the city. SEU officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Sixth St and “B” St. Immediately upon the vehicle stopping a subject who had been hiding in the rear seat attempted to flee the area. He was detained a short distance away and identified as Albert Salazar. Salazar is a documented gang member and had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. During a search of the vehicle a loaded semi-automatic handgun was located.
Salazar was arrested for several firearm related charges, violation of the gang injunction and his outstanding warrants.
The driver of the vehicle Mariah Arroyo was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. A third adult female was released.
The Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang crimes and violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city. Citizens are reminded to contact the Police Department when they observe suspicious activity or are witnesses to a crime.
