On March 4, 2012 at about 9:30, three men entered a residence in the 1100 block of Poplar Street through an unlocked door. One of the suspects confronted the resident (victim) with a handgun. Two of the suspects, the victim and the victim’s brother struggled over the gun. The victim and his brother were able to fight off the suspects and lock them out of the residence. One of the suspects then fired into the residence several times. The suspects left in an unidentified vehicle. No one in the residence was hurt by the gunfire. The victim is a 28-year-old male. At the time of the incident, there were four other adults and one child in the home.
The victim described the suspects as three Hispanic males between 18 and 20 years old. The motive for the assault is not yet known. Oxnard PD has interviewed several witnesses at the residence and nearby residences. Investigators are currently working several leads.
