SUBJECT: Suspect Arrested for October 2022 Shooting Death
LOCATION: 300 block Cuesta Del Mar Drive, Oxnard, CA
VICTIM: Ronald Apodaca, Jr. 36-Year-Old, Oxnard resident
SUSPECT: Hugo Quebrado 21-year-old Oxnard resident

On October 22, 2022, at about 10:17 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a call of a shooting victim in the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar. When officers arrived, they located a 36-year-old male, later identified as Ronald Apodaca, Jr., suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services quickly arrived and began life-saving measures. Unfortunately, Apodaca succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, investigators were able to obtain sufficient evidence that identified 21-year-old, Hugo Quebrado, as the person responsible for the murder of Ronald Apodaca. The success of this investigation was through the hard work and dedication of investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, Violent Crimes Unit and officers assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit.
On February 6, 2023, at about 6:00 A.M., members of the Oxnard Police Department SWAT team as well as investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit served a search warrant at Quebrado’s residence. He was taken into custody without incident. Quebrado was transported to the Ventura County Main Jail where he was charged for the murder of Ronald Apodaca, Jr.
