On 12/26/2011 at about 4 p.m. officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to the La Gloria Market regarding two subjects seen arguing and one who was stabbed with a knife. During the disturbance the victim possibly struck the suspect on the forehead with a belt and buckle.

The victim was transported to VCMC with a serious stab wound. He is currently in stable condition. The suspect was seen walking away north bound through the center of the parking lot and was last seen at the south east corner of Fourth Street and Oxnard Blvd.

It is unknown why the men were fighting or if the suspect is known to the victim.

On February 4, 2012 at about 11:30 p.m., Oxnard PD officers along with EMS personnel responded to a single vehicle (motorcycle), injury collision at the intersection of Fifth and “C” Streets. When officers arrived, theydiscovered that the motorcycle collided with the curb and a light standard. Officers and EMS personnel attended to the driver, a 21-year-old male. The driver was unconscious and sustained multiple injuries to his legs and upper torso as a result of the collision. He was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment where he is listed in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Fifth Street approaching “C” Street. The rider failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the opposing traffic lane. The motorcycle struck a curb causing the rider to lose control and subsequently strike a light pole. No other vehicles were involved.

Investigators suspect that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed and was not able to negotiate the curve because of the high speed. It is not known whether alcohol contributed to the collision. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

LOCATION	Gonzales Road EAST of Oxnard Boulevard

(Oxnard, CA) On Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 6 a.m. through Sunday, March 4 at 6 a.m. Gonzales Road east of Oxnard Boulevard at the railroad crossing will be closed. This closure is required for track maintenance of the Union Pacific Railroad crossing.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Additional railroad maintenance closures will occur over the next few weeks and the public will be notified in advance of those closures.

(Oxnard, CA) On January 1, 2012 at about 2:30 a.m. a woman walked out of her residence in the 200 block of Riverpark Boulevard and was confronted by a male suspect who shot her and fled the area. The victim is a 21-year-old female who was hospitalized for her injuries. She has since been released.

Oxnard PD officers responded to the scene and interviewed several witnesses. During the investigation detectives from the violent crimes unit identified Alexander Joel Mendez (5/12/84) as the suspect in this case. A warrant for attempted homicide has been issued for Mendez’s arrest. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Mendez is a Hispanic male, 27, 5’11” 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He drives a blue 1990 Chevrolet Lumina with California license plate 2WCJ445.

She was approached from behind by a male who reached around her and fondled her breast. The victim screamed and the suspect walked away. He was last seen walking northbound on the frontage road of Harbor Blvd.

(Oxnard, CA) On July 9, 2012 at about 1:30 a.m. a 19-year-old Oxnard man was walking in the area of 2500 N. Vineyard Avenue when a man jumped out of the bushes and confronted him. The suspect battered the victim, took some of the victim’s property and ran on foot toward the parking lot of the Jack in the Box.

The victim says the suspect was a Hispanic male, 5’9” 160 pounds, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The suspect was not armed.

DETAILS:
On October 27, 2012, at about 1:05 A.M., Oxnard police officers responded to Pleasant Valley Road and Saviers Road after receiving a call of an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle that had driven into a building. Once on scene, officers and EMS personnel found that a Chevy Astro Van, driven by Felix Morales of Oxnard, had collided into the business, Ortiz Bakery #2, at 152 East Pleasant Valley Road causing extensive damage to the building and trapping Morales in his vehicle. Firefighters had to utilize special equipment to extricate Morales from his vehicle.

Morales sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Morales was traveling eastbound on Pleasant Valley Road after being involved in a minor-injury hit and run collision in the area of Pleasant Valley Road and Perkins Road. While fleeing, Morales lost control of his vehicle and drove into the building.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this collision.

(OXNARD, Calif) At 9:39 a.m., November 15, 2012, the Oxnard Police Department responded to a report of possible human remains in the area of 4th and D Streets in Oxnard. Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department responded and located what appeared to be an adult skull and jaw bone. The bones appeared to be weathered, and did not appear to be from any recent event. Along with the bones were several items indicating they came from an altar, such as a “Santa Muerte” shrine. The bones were taken by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification purposes. The other items were taken as evidence. Detectives interviewed several persons in the area. The investigation will continue by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes Unit.

DETAILS:

Oxnard Police Department personnel are currently conducting traffic control on the roadways surrounding a sink hole at Rose Avenue and Raiders Way. The sink hole was reported by passing motorists this morning at approximately 1:45 A.M.

The northbound and southbound lanes of Rose Avenue are closed between Channel Island Boulevard and Gary Drive. Raiders Way is also closed between Dallas Drive and Rose Avenue.

Motorists wishing to travel north and south are encouraged to use Rice Avenue or Saviers Road. Motorists wishing to travel east and west are required to use Channel Islands Boulevard or Bard Road.

Personnel from the City of Oxnard’s Street Department are also on scene repairing the roadway. At this time, it is not known when the roadway will be re-opened.

DETAILS:

On 11/30/12, at approximately 1942 hours, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to St. John’s Regional Medical Center re: a stabbing victim. The victim informed officers that the incident had occurred earlier at a parking lot in the 1900 block of North Ventura Road. Officers learned the victim had been approached by the suspect and was subsequently stabbed twice. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a male, early 20’s, 5-8, thin build. The suspect is outstanding. Baez remained hospitalized and is listed in stable condition.
