DETAILS:

On 5-14-10 an assault with a deadly weapon occurred in the 200 block of West Doris Ave. During that assault the suspect was identified by witnesses.

This morning around 6:00 AM the suspect Nissa Magallon called the police because she was a victim of vandalism. During that contact she was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested.

Investigators were contacted about the assault that had occurred days earlier. They conducted a photo line-up where the suspect Magallon was identified. They also learned that the mother Laticia Franco had made several threats to an involved party via phone and text messages.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for two addresses in Oxnard that may have had evidence from the assault and criminal threats. During the search warrant on Redwood Street investigators located narcotics for sales and currency associated with the narcotics. They also located evidence involved in the crimes.

Suspect Nissa Magallon was booked at Ventura County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and under the Influence of a controlled substance. Suspect Laticia Franco was booked for possession for sales and criminal threats.

All the victim’s names are being withheld due the threats made involve gang members associated with the suspects.

On 5-21-10 around 1530 hours, Oxnard Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Channel Island Boulevard and Rose Avenue regarding a fight.

Officers observed numerous suspected gang members fleeing the area on foot and in vehicles. A Blue sedan fleeing the area was stopped. The occupants were identified as being involved in the fight with rival gang members.

The one of the occupants had a crowbar hidden in his pants along with a folding knife. Information was also received to indicated the occupants of the vehicle conspired together to meet rival gang members to fight.

The occupants were arrested for being possession of a concealed weapon, fighting in public, conspiracy and the gang enhancement.

On 7-5-10, at approximately 0303 hours, officers responded to the 1800-block of La Puerta Avenue reference contacting a victim regarding her vehicle being stolen with her 4 year old daughter still inside the vehicle. The victim, Shalawan Wilson, told officers on 7-4-10, she was with her children celebrating the 4th of July when she received a phone call from her ex-boyfriend, suspect Kason Williams, asking for a ride. Victim Wilson agreed to give Williams and his associates a ride and picked them up in the 600-block of East Hueneme Road in the city of Port Hueneme.

Prior to taking Williams and his friends home, Victim Wilson drove to the 700-block of Cuesta Del Mar to pick up her friend. The victim and her 2 younger boys exited her vehicle and ran into her friend’s residence. As the victim was inside the friend’s residence, the victim heard a car engine start up and saw suspect Williams driving away in her vehicle. The victim ran to her vehicle and attempted to stop the suspect because her 4 year old daughter was in the rear passenger seat but Williams refused to stop.

Officers contacted the victim at her residence and broadcasted the stolen vehicle information.

Several minutes later, officers saw suspect Williams driving the victim’s vehicle in the area of Wolff Street and South “I” Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop and took Williams into custody. Officers found the victim’s 4 year old daughter sitting in the backseat unharmed.

During the time of the arrest, officers discovered suspect Williams had an outstanding felony warrant and is on active parole.

Suspect Williams was booked at Ventura County Jail for kidnapping and stolen vehicle and is being held without bail.

On the above date and time officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a call of a robbery at a business with a shot fired. Upon officers arrival they contacted the business owner. He said that he was in the business when the armed gunman entered. The gunman demanded money. Before the victim could open the cash register, the suspect fired a shot into a rear storage area of the business. The business owner was not injured during the incident. There were no other customers in the store during the incident.

After obtaining the cash the suspect fled the business on foot and was last seen East on Iris from Saviers Rd. Officers searched the area with negative results. On 07/16/2010 between the hours of 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM two suspects attempted entry to one a residence on the 800 block of Cedar Court and then again on the 900 block of Cedar Court. The same two suspects attempted entry to a third residence on the 1100 block of Cedar Street. In two cases, the suspects attempted to open a window to the door and on the third they attempted to pry off a window screen.

The public is asked to use caution when leaving windows open during the late night hours and to call the police when you see people acting suspicious.

DETAILS:

Rodriguez was crossing in the crosswalk while riding his bicycle at Colonia Rd. and Oxnard Blvd. when the suspect vehicle ran the red light and struck the victim bicyclist. The suspect, later identified as Oxnard resident Jose Vega, fled the scene in the vehicle however several witnesses stayed in the area to provide descriptions of the suspect vehicle with the direction of travel. Two other witnesses followed the suspect vehicle long enough to provide officers with an accurate description of the black Ford Expedition along with the license plate and last known direction of travel.

Officers waited at the registered owner’s residence until the suspected driver returned. Vega admitted driving the vehicle and fleeing the scene out of fear. Vega was arrested and his vehicle was impounded as evidence.

On July 28, 2010, at approximately 1909 hours, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to Victoria Avenue, South of Gonzales Road after receiving a call of a roll-over collision involving two vehicles. Once on scene, officers and EMS personnel found that the vehicles, a white, BMW sedan and a red, Ford compact had collided in the southbound lanes. As a result of the collision, the red compact had overturned, trapping the driver, Shannon Martinez, 26 of Ventura. She was extricated by fire department personnel and transported to Ventura County Medical Center for multiple injuries. She was admitted and is in serious but stable condition. The driver of the BMW, a 25 year old male of Oxnard and his passenger, a 14 year old male of Oxnard, died at the scene. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the BMW was traveling northbound on Victoria Avenue and began passing other northbound traffic by driving in the dirt center median. The BMW lost control and began sliding sideways and crossed into the opposing lanes. Upon crossing into the southbound lanes, the BMW collided with the red compact.

The observations of an alert Oxnard resident led to the arrest of a juvenile suspected in two vehicle crimes early this morning.

At 0654 hours, Oxnard police received a call of an auto theft in progress in the 700 block of Forest Park Blvd. The 30-year-old victim (whose identity is being withheld by police) watched his vehicle, a Chevrolet pick-up, being driven without his consent. The victim chased the suspect on foot and detained the juvenile until police arrived.

At 0654 hours, a second vehicle burglary was reported to Oxnard police in the same apartment complex. Stereo equipment was stolen from a Dodge pick-up.

Entry to both vehicles was made by force. Evidence recovered indicates the juvenile suspect was responsible for both crimes. All stolen property was recovered and returned to the owners.

The suspect was transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center for treatment of facial injuries received during a brief altercation with the victim. The victim was also injured but did not require medical attention. The juvenile was placed into Juvenile Hall on two counts of auto burglary, one count of theft of automobile, and violation of probation for a previous attempted burglary. An investigation is continuing.

On 10/25/10 at about 1:10 p.m., Officer Jessica Eglin was traveling with several other police motorcycle officers on a training ride southbound Oxnard Blvd. (SR-1) south of Pleasant Valley Rd. when she bumped into another Oxnard police motorcycle. She subsequently lost control and crashed in the dirt/grassy center median. Officer Eglin was transported by Gold Coast Ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center where she was examined and subsequently released with no significant injuries. The collision investigation is being handled by the California Highway Patrol.

On 12-6-2010, at approximately 1820 hours, officers responded to the 300 Block of Cordova Street concerning a robbery with a gun that had just occurred. They contacted the victim who told them that he exited his truck and was confronted by two suspects. The suspects had exited a white Honda 4 door vehicle. The two suspects confronted him and initially asked for money. When the victim refused, one suspect pulled out an unknown type firearm and demanded the suspect give him all of his money. The second suspect took the victim’s cash and cellular phone. Both suspects fled in the vehicle.
