DETAILS: On May 12th, 2014, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the 4200 block of Harbor Blvd in the City of Oxnard in reference to the online enticement of a minor female by an adult male. The minor’s mother reported that she discovered that her 14-year-old daughter had engaged in sexual conversations through Facebook with an adult male.

On July 9^th, 2014, after an extensive two month investigation, detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit arrested Patrick Brian Kennedy at his place of employment in the City of Goleta. Mr. Kennedy was arrested for various charges including: traveling for the purposes of engaging a minor for sex, delaying and obstructing a police investigation, conspiracy to commit a crime, and child annoying. He is currently in custody with bail set at $250,000.

Detectives have reason to believe that there may be other minor victims that have been contacted by Kennedy through Facebook. Anyone with additional information should contact Detective Terrance Dobrosky at (805) 385-7609.

DETAILS:

(Oxnard, CA) – On 8-9-14, at 0345 hours, officers responded to the 700 Block of Hermosa Way reference a subject yelling in the street. Officers made contact with a witness who told officers that a man was struck by a car. The witness stated the car fled after striking the man knocking this individual to the ground. The victim was later identified as Adam Rodriguez. Rodriguez was contacted at his home in Ventura by Oxnard officers. Rodriguez told officers that his ex-girlfriend, Jeannette Robles, hit him with her car while he was walking on Hermosa Way. Rodriguez said he and Robles were involved in a verbal dispute prior to him being struck by the car.

Mr. Rodriguez sustained moderate injuries from being struck by the car. Jeannette Robles was arrested at her residence on Blanca Place in Oxnard a short time after the incident. Jeannette Robles is currently in custody with bail set at $500,000.

DETAILS:

On Tuesday August 12, 2014, at approximately 4:31 p.m., Oxnard police officers responded to the 3600 block of Leeward Way regarding a call of shots fired from a red vehicle. When officers arrived on scene, Cliff Thieme was contacted and eventually arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.

Officers learned that the shooting resulted from a “road rage” incident between the suspect and victim at Rice Ave and the 101 freeway. The suspect followed the victim to the 3600 block of Leeward way where an altercation took place. The suspect caused damage to the victim’s vehicle, and at some point during the altercation, produced a handgun and fired one shot in the direction of the victim. The victim was not injured.

EVENT:	Road Closures for the 2014 Ventura Pier to Pier Marathon

DETAILS: The 2nd Annual Ventura Pier to Pier Marathon will be held this Sunday, September 7^th. The event starts at the Ventura Pier at 6:20 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m. The marathon will travel through the cities of Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme. The marathon is expected to have approximately 3000 runners which may cause some traffic delays along the marathon route.

The marathon route from Ventura will be southbound on Harbor Boulevard to Channel Islands Boulevard, eastbound Channel Islands Boulevard to Ventura Road and southbound Ventura Road to the Port Hueneme Pier. Runners will make a U-turn at the Port Hueneme Pier and return to the Ventura Pier following the same route.

The only road closures in the City Oxnard will be on Harbor Boulevard between Fifth Street and Spinnaker Drive in Ventura and Gonzales Road between Victoria Avenue and Harbor Boulevard. All other streets along the marathon route will remain open. As this is a competitive race, priority right-of-way will be provided to the participants. Local residents are encouraged to use alternate routes for trips in and out of the city.

In an attempt to accommodate local residents traveling along the marathon route, the Oxnard Police Traffic Unit will have officers and additional traffic control personnel assigned to several intersections along the marathon route to assist with traffic control.

DETAILS:
On 10/17/14, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Oxnard police officers responded to the 2000 block of North Ventura Road reference a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, witnesses stated that the incident involved a male and a female inside a grey four-door newer model sedan. The male and female left in the vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival. Officers located evidence at the scene indicating that at least one shot had been fired at that location.

Patrol officers and investigators continued to investigate the case throughout the day and learned that the incident involved a married couple. They were identified as 24-year old Anthony Carbajal and 24-year old Valarie Carbajal (see pictures below). Anthony Carbajal is currently wanted for a probation violation and for a separate domestic violence incident. Investigators are also interested in speaking with Valarie Carbajal to check on and ensure her safety and well-being.

***UPDATE***
Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department worked diligently throughout the night attempting to locate Anthony and Valarie Carbajal. Information was received that both subjects were together and driving eastbound across California and Arizona eventually stopping in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Detectives contacted the local police departments in the area of Albuquerque and provided them with the subjects’ descriptions. On 10/18/14 at about 1315 hours, Albuquerque police officers located Anthony and Valerie walking together. Officers contacted them to check the well being of Valarie. During the contact, Anthony was found to be in possession of a firearm. Valarie was determined to be safe and unharmed. Anthony was arrested and both of them were transported to the Albuquerque Police Department for questioning.

On December 7, 2014 at 7:00 am, Oxnard Police Officers received a call of a felony sexual assault and possible kidnap that occurred in the 3500 block of Samuel Ave. Officers learned that the suspect was possibly still in the area and attempted to make contact with him. The officers found the suspect in an apartment on Samuel Ave. When contacted by officers, the suspect was uncooperative and barricaded himself inside the apartment.

After approximately two hours, the suspect surrendered to SWAT officers who had responded to the scene. During the incident six apartments evacuated.

Traffic was shut down on the following streets for the duration of the incident.
· La Canada Ave. between Samuel Ave. and La Costa Pl.
· Samuel Ave. between La Canada Ave. and Yucca St.

The suspect has been arrested for several felony crimes. Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit are handling the investigation.

DETAILS:(OXNARD, Calif) – On January 7, 2015 at 10:05 a.m., officers responded to the 5200 Block of Saviers Road, regarding a prowler. Officers learned a male suspect had entered a home through an open back door. The suspect approached the victim and began to physically and sexually assault her. The victim fought back as the suspect attempted to strangle her. The victim broke free from the suspect and ran to a nearby garage whereby she barricaded herself and called police. The suspect fled the area. According to the victim, the suspect was wearing a black ski mask at the time of the assault.

On January 8, 2015 at approximately 1600 hours officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit attempted a traffic stop in the area of Saviers Road and Hill St for a traffic violation. The vehicle failed to yield and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. During the pursuit two subjects fled from the vehicle. A 16 year old male juvenile fled from the vehicle and was quickly apprehended. He was in possession of loaded handgun. The second subject, Jose Varela, was apprehended with the assistance of several citizens who directed officers to his location.

Due to the traffic conditions the vehicle pursuit was cancelled.

Jose Varela and the juvenile are both documented gang members. The juvenile was booked on several firearm related charges and Varela was charged with delaying a peace officers duties.

An investigation is continuing.

On 3-10-15, at 2142 hours, officers stopped a vehicle on Saviers Road near Elm Street for minor traffic violations. The driver, Oxnard resident Efrain Jimenez, 46 years, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested.

Narcotics were also located in plain view inside the vehicle. Police Service Dog, “KOA,” searched further and a hidden compartment was located in the center console. Several baggies of cocaine and methamphetamine were located. Additionally, a loaded revolver was located.

Jimenez was charged with a number of felony and misdemeanor offenses: possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for sale, possession of a loaded firearm while being under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm with narcotics.

At the beginning of 2014, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative, as well as the Firearms Strike Team (FAST) led by the Violent Crimes Unit, to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons in the city. The objective of the initiative and FAST was to reduce gun violence in Oxnard through education, intervention, and enforcement .

DETAILS: On 3-17-15, at 0500 hours, Officer Jack Martin observed a vehicle possibly casing for thefts in the area of Monet Place and Anchorage Street, in Oxnard. The license plate on the suspect vehicle, a blue 1994 Honda Accord, were shown to have been stolen from a 2012 BMW. An investigative stop was conducted and officers learned that the Vehicle Identification Number (“VIN”) had been removed. It was determined that the vehicle was stolen on 2/27/15, from within the City of Oxnard.

Narcotics paraphernalia and several items of stolen property, possibly from recent mail thefts, were located inside the vehicle.

The driver, Oxnard resident Angel Tienda 24 years, was charged with a number of felony and misdemeanor offenses: unlawful taking of a vehicle, possession of burglary tools, receiving stolen property, possession of a vehicle without proper identification number and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.

The two passengers, Oxnard resident Ruben Blanco 27 years and Salinas resident David Cruz 23 years, were both charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department Auto Theft Task Force and Property Crimes Division responded to assist and advised the United States Postal Inspectors. The investigation is ongoing.
