SUBJECT: Shooting Suspect Arrested After Man Shot Near Park

VICTIMS: 53 Year-Old Male, Oxnard Resident
19 Year-Old Male, Oxnard Resident
SUSPECT: 25 Year-Old Male, Oxnard Resident (Name Withheld)

On August 2, 2023, at approximately 5:01 PM, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department and Ventura County Community College Police Department responded to a call of a shooting victim in the 4000 block of S. Rose Avenue. Officers and EMS personnel arrived on scene and located a 53 year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and leg. The subject was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. An additional 19 year-old victim was shot at by the suspect, who fled on foot. This victim was uninjured.
Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit responded and located the 25 year-old suspect in the 3900 block of S. Rose Avenue. He was arrested and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department Violent Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation. The investigation is ongoing, the suspect's name is being withheld, and no further information is available at this time.
