(OXNARD, Calif) – Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes Investigators have made an arrest in a homicide case that occured on October 27, 2015. Detectives arrested 47 year old George Edward Malone for the murder of Paul Blevins.

On 10/27/15 at approximately 0200 hours, Oxnard police officers responded to the 1500 block of South Oxnard Boulevard regarding an assault. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found Blevins with life threatening stab wounds. Blevins was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center. Unfortunately, Blevins died as a result of the injuries he sustained from the assault.

Major Crimes Investigators took over the investigation and were able to identify a suspect. The suspect, George Edward Malone, was arrested at Ventura County Jail on 4/25/16 for the murder of Blevins. Malone was already in custody for narcotics related charges not associated with the homicide.

Although Malone has been arrested for this murder, Major Crimes Investigators are continuing to investigate this case. On May 10, 2016 at approximately 1445 hours, officers were patrolling the area of Oxnard Boulevard and Fourth Street. While in the area, they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. During the stop the officers made contact with Natividad Juarez. Juarez is a known associate of an active street gang.

During a search, a loaded semi-automatic pistol was located in Juarez’s waistband. A records check of the firearm revealed the weapon was stolen.

Natividad Juarez was arrested for several weapons related charges.

At the beginning of 2014, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative, as well as the Firearms Strike Team (FAST), to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons in the city. The objective of the initiative and FAST is to reduce gun violence in Oxnard through education, intervention and enforcement.

On May 31, 2016 at approximately 9:00 am Oxnard Police Department officers responded to the area of Schooner Walk and Pier Walk in Oxnard to investigate the report of a disoriented elderly female. Officers located an estimated 75+ years old Asian female wearing a green suit and no shoes. The female is very disoriented an unable to provide any identifying information as well as a home address or any relatives.

The female is approximately 4’11, 95 lbs, red curly hair, hazel or brown eyes and speaks both English and Korean. She may go by a name sounding similar to Kim Olsen. The female is currently at the Oxnard Police Department, her picture is attached.

The Oxnard Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the female so that she can be reunited with her family, friends, or caretakers. Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Oxnard Police Department.

On June 10, 2016, at 9:04 p.m., officers were dispatched to a call of a shooting victim in the 4800 block of Terrace Avenue. Upon arrival officers located a victim inside a nearby residence. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center by ambulance. Unfortunately, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.

Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes Investigators were notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

This was Oxnard’s fifth homicide of the year.

On June 28, 2016, at about 12:40 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) were conducting uniform gang enforcement in 1300 block of Azalea St. where the recent homicide occurred. Officers noticed a large group of subjects at a vehicle which was in the middle of the street blocking both lanes near Azalea St at Lantana St.

When officers approached the subjects the car quickly sped away from them attempting to avoid contact with the officers. A short pursuit ensued in the neighborhood and during the pursuit a loaded firearm was discarded from the vehicle. The vehicle collided with a parked car in the neighborhood and both occupants fled on foot from the vehicle. After a brief foot pursuit both suspects were apprehended.

Sattiewhite was arrested for possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and narcotics. Washington was arrested for vehicle pursuit and resisting arrest.

On Thursday, June 16, officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) were patrolling in the area of Saviers Rd. and Pleasant Valley Rd. when they observed 20 year-old Oxnard resident Luis Renteria riding a bicycle in the area. Officers recognized Renteria and were aware that Renteria was a wanted fugitive. Renteria attempted to flee from officers however; Renteria was captured a short time later in the 4800 block of Dunbar Dr.

Renteria was arrested on June 12, 2016 by the California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) Police Department for possession of a stolen vehicle. Renteria escaped from the CSUCI booking facility and managed to elude capture. Renteria was turned over to the custody of CSUCI Police Department.

(OXNARD, Calif) – Detectives with the Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit made an arrest in the homicide investigation of 32 year old Christopher Camper. Detectives arrested Christopher Gaston, a 36 year old Oxnard resident, and charged him in the shooting death of Camper.

The homicide occurred on June 25, 2016 at approximately 5:15 P.M. Camper was standing at a bus stop located at 1930 North Ventura Road. Detectives believe Gaston drove up to Camper and shot him multiple times, killing him. Gaston then fled the area in his vehicle, which is described as a silver 1990’s model Cadillac sedan.

According to detectives investigating the case, the motive for the murder appears to be a longstanding personal feud over property.

Gaston was arrested for murder on July 20, 2016 at Ventura County Jail. Gaston was already in custody on an unrelated criminal offense.

Detectives will continue to investigate this case. The City of Oxnard offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect(s) in homicide cases. On July 23, 2016 at approximately 0127 hours, officers from the Central Business District were patrolling the area of Seventh Street and A Street when they observed a stolen vehicle driving in the area. As the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, several occupants fled. Lionel Marin and Marcos Madrid were located in the area. Marin was found to have discarded a loaded firearm while fleeing from officers. Marin is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. Marin was arrested for several weapons violations and fleeing from officers.

Madrid is currently on Post Release Community Supervision and was arrested for violating the conditions of his supervised release.

Marin and Madrid are both documented members of a criminal street gang and were booked into the Ventura County Jail.

The Post Release Offender program was created by Assembly Bill 109 – the 2011 Public Safety Realignment. This program mandates that individuals sentenced to non-violent, non-serious or non-sex offenses will serve their sentences in county jails instead of state prison. The public should be aware that release under AB 109 is based on the offender’s most recent commitment offense, prior convictions are not considered.

DETAILS: During the month of August, the Oxnard Police Department noticed an increase of vehicles being stolen due to keys being left behind in the vehicle. It has been determined that one in every three vehicles that are stolen in the city of Oxnard are being stolen due to keys being left in unlocked vehicles or vehicles being left running unattended.

In the weeks ahead, the Oxnard Police Department will be enforcing a City of Oxnard Ordinance which indicates that no vehicles shall be left running unattended. A citation of $65 will be issued to vehicles that are left running unattended.

The following tips will assist the community in preventing the theft of vehicles:

Do not leave keys in your vehicle whether the vehicle is running or not.
Do not leave keys in the ignition with the engine running unattended.
Make sure to lock your vehicle and use an anti-theft device.
Do not leave any valuable items in your vehicle. When items of value are left in the vehicle in plain sight, thieves will usually break the windows to steal your property.
Do not park in dark alleys or areas with low lighting.

On 3/20/2016 at approximately 0152 hours, a call was received of an armed carjacking that had just occurred in the area of Community Center Park West located at Seventh St. and Hobson Way. Officers were in the area in less than a minute but the suspects already fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.

As officers continued to search the area they contacted three people, two male and one female, who were believed to be involved. The two males were identified and arrested. The adult male was identified as 24 year-old Oxnard resident, Alejandro Avila Arroyo. He was charged with two felonies, carjacking and possession of stolen property. The juvenile male was also charged with carjacking.

The investigation is ongoing and the Oxnard Police Department is in search of any witnesses to this event.
