DETAILS:
On June 7, 2016, Officers conducted a probation search at a home in the 800 block of West Iris Street for Fabian Ramirez. Ramirez is a convicted felon, who is on probation and prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. During the search, Ramirez was found to be in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. During a search of the residence, officers located a loaded .380 caliber firearm. Ramirez was arrested for several firearm and narcotic related offenses.
At the beginning of 2014, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative, as well as the Firearms Strike Team (FAST), to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons in the city. The objective of the initiative and FAST is to reduce gun violence in Oxnard through education, intervention and enforcement.
