DETAILS:
On November 9, 2016, at 8:50 p.m., a patrol officer from the Oxnard Police Department observed a stolen vehicle taken during a carjacking. The crime occurred in Oxnard, in mid-October and the suspect was armed with a rifle during the crime. As the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled and a pursuit began. This occurred in the area of Wooley Rd and Oxnard Blvd. The pursuit lasted approximately 10 minutes and covered 17 miles.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle collided with a parked car causing minor damage. Both the driver and the passenger in the vehicle were arrested after a short foot pursuit with both suspects. The driver was Jayson Rivera and passenger was identified as Desiree Martinez. Both were booked into the Ventura County Jail on a variety of charges.
