(Oxnard, Calif)– Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes Investigators have made an arrest in the murder of 25 year old Angel Diaz. Aaron Jabezz Holmes, a 20 year old Oxnard resident, was arrested earlier today by officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU).
The murder of Angel Diaz occurred on April 30, 2015 at approximately 2:30 a.m., at 4811 South Rose Avenue. Police officers were dispatched to a “shots fired” call with a vehicle collision into a building. When officers arrived on scene, they located Angel Diaz in the driver seat of his pick-up truck. Diaz had been shot to death. There is no indication Diaz’ murder was gang related.
Major Crimes Investigators were summoned to the crime scene and assumed the investigation. Major Crimes Investigators and Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) worked diligently and tirelessly to locate the suspect or suspects responsible for the death of Angel Diaz.
During the course of the investigation, Major Crimes Investigators gathered sufficient evidence and probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Aaron Holmes. Holmes was arrested without incident at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Ventura Road. Holmes will be held at Ventura County Jail without bail.
Although Holmes has been arrested for the murder of Angel Diaz, Major Crimes Investigators will continue to investigate this case.
