DETAILS: On July 18, 2017, at approximately 11:50PM, Oxnard police officers responded to the 200 block of E. Seventh St., Oxnard; reference a shooting that just occurred. When officers arrived they located a victim who sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers learned the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation inside of a garage. The altercation led the two men outside where the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to police officer’s arrival.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) continued to investigate shooting after the initial police response. During the course of their investigation, investigators learned the identity of the suspect, Andres Ayala.
On August 09, 2017, VCU investigators arrested Ayala at the Ventura County Jail for the above charges. Ayala was currently in jail on charges unrelated to the shooting.
