On October 9, 2017, at approximately 6:20 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department Gang Unit (Special Enforcement Unit) were conducting uniform gang enforcement in the area of Rose Ave and Camino Del Sol. Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in that area.
As officers approached the vehicle they saw Jorge Corea hiding a loaded short barreled shotgun in his pants. Officers immediately took Corea into custody and searched the vehicle. Corea is a documented gang member and a convicted felon being prohibited from possessing firearms. Corea was arrested for various gun, drug, and gang related charges.
The Oxnard Police Department Gang Unit (Special Enforcement Unit) is committed to reducing gang crimes and gun violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city. Citizens are reminded to contact the Police Department when they observe suspicious activity or are witnesses to a crime.
