DETAILS:
On 5/16/18, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Oxnard Police Officers were dispatched to a call of a domestic violence incident which occurred in the area of Riverpark Boulevard and Vineyard Avenue. Officers made contact with the female victim and observed several injuries to her face and body. The suspect, Roman Celis, had fled the area prior to the officer’s arrival.
Officers were able to locate an address where Celis lived and attempted to make contact with him. Upon arrival, they observed Celis in a parked vehicle in the parking lot of his apartment complex. He appeared to be asleep. Officers also observed a handgun on the driver seat, next to Celis. Officers were able to safely recover the firearm without waking up Celis. After retrieving the firearm, Celis was woken up and he became resistive. Celis was eventually subdued and taken into custody without further incident. Celis was also found to be in possession of narcotics.
Celis was subsequently charged with numerous violations, including, felony domestic violence, being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, numerous drug charges and resisting arrest.
