On 11/20/18 at approximately 4:42 a.m., officers responded to a call of a suspicious subject in the 3700 block of Olds Road. Officers were told that someone had removed a window screen from the bedroom window. A sleeping resident was awakened when they noticed the curtains move and an arm come through the window. The resident screamed and the suspect fled the area.
Detectives from the Property Crimes Unit responded to the scene and reviewed video surveillance. Based on the video, detectives were able to develop a person of interest. The subject, Omar Ortiz, 30 years, was contacted and arrested for his outstanding felony warrants and the new charges of prowling and aggravated trespass.
The Oxnard Police Department Property Crimes Unit is asking for your help. It is believed that Ortiz may have been involved in similar crimes in the area. If you have any information on Ortiz, please contact the Oxnard Police Department.
