On September 23, 2018 at approximately 2:35 a.m., Officers responded to a call for service regarding an injury traffic collision in the intersection of Fifth Street and Meta Street. When officers arrived, they located Jorge Gonzalez Tejeda lying in the intersection. Mr. Tejeda was transported by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) where he ultimately passed away from complications due to his injuries.
When investigators took over the investigation, the circumstances surrounding Mr. Tejada’s death were initially suspicious.
