On 12/04/18 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Oxnard Police Department officers were dispatched to a call of a suspicious vehicle that was being dismantled in the 400 block of East Second Street.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted a subject who was in the process of dismantling a Chevrolet truck. The subject was identified as Jesus Vigil Garcia, 30 years old, of Oxnard. After further investigation, the vehicle that Garcia was working on was determined to be stolen. Garcia was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, and operating a chop shop, due to the fact that Garcia was dismantling the stolen vehicle.
Jesus Garcia has a criminal record that includes several arrests for vehicle theft; two of which have resulted in convictions.
Detectives from the Auto Theft Task Force, as part of an ongoing campaign to curb auto theft, are offering steering wheel locks to Oxnard residents who are owners of 1990-2000, Honda passenger vehicles. A limited amount of steering wheel locks are available to non-Honda owners. For details on obtaining a free steering wheel lock, contact Detective Charles Buttell at (805) 385-7755.
