SUBJECT: Oxnard resident arrested for firearm possession

On October 30, at approximately 9:21 p.m., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit), in conjunction with patrol officers, conducted a traffic stop on a white Toyota Camry for a traffic violation. Officers contacted the driver, identified as Sebastian Castillo (18 years), in the vehicle. Sebastian was in the company of three additional occupants, all known criminal street gang members within the city of Oxnard.
Castillo consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located a loaded 9mm Glock 19 semi-automatic handgun hidden in the engine compartment. The firearm was also found to not be registered to Castillo or any of the occupants. Castillo was arrested for various firearms related violations.
