From October 2017 through January 2018, the Oxnard Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) in conjunction with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Special Crimes Unit conducted an investigation of an Oxnard criminal street gang responsible for several shootings in Oxnard. The Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) and the departments K-9 Unit participated in serving four of the eleven local search warrants. The remainder of the seven search warrants were served in Los Angeles County: Los Angeles (3), Ontario (1), Rancho Cucamonga (1), Palmdale (1), and one in Port Hueneme. These search warrants led to the seizure of 10 firearms, including a Tec-9 and an assault rifle; 88 pounds of marijuana; 54 grams of cocaine; 7 grams of methamphetamine; 245 grams of Mexican brown heroin; $62,432; one vehicle; and several arrests.
Arrests / Charges:
Joseph Barron, Joseph Tamayo, Jose Geronimo, and Jonathon Reyes (who are all convicted felons) were charged with conspiracy to commit an assault with a deadly weapon for the benefit of a criminal street gang and illegal transfer of a firearm.
Joseph Barron and Eduardo Luna (both convicted felons) were charged with conspiracy, possession for sales of a controlled substance, transportation for sales of a controlled substance, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Darius Flewellen and Eduardo Luna (both convicted felons) were charged with conspiracy to transport for sales of a controlled substance.
